I didn’t expect to enjoy a book about an assassin, let alone finish it in a single day — but Inevitable I by Remington Kane pulled me in from page one and never let go. This gritty, fast‑moving thriller introduces Tanner, a hitman who doesn’t just complete contracts… he relentlessly fulfills them, even when the client tries to call the job off.

———————————-

Tanner is someone with no off switch. Once he accepts a target, nothing stops him — not the FBI, not prison, not the endless stream of killers sent to take him out. Tanner follows his own code, and watching him navigate that code is what makes the book so addictive. You find yourself rooting for him even though you know you shouldn’t. He’s dangerous, he’s unstoppable, and yet you want him to survive long enough to finish what he started.

What I Loved

  • The pacing: There isn’t a dull moment. Every chapter pushes Tanner deeper into danger, and you can’t help but keep turning pages.

  • The character: Tanner is cold, focused, and lethal — but never flat. His determination becomes strangely admirable.

  • The tension: The “called‑off hit” premise creates a moral knot that tightens with every scene.

  • The surprise ending: The final hit that closes the book genuinely caught me off guard. It’s sharp, clever, and perfectly sets the tone for the series.

Why It Worked for Me

I usually avoid assassin‑centered stories, but this one changed my mind. Tanner isn’t written as a caricature or a mindless killer. He’s a force — and watching that force collide with mobsters, FBI agents, and other assassins is thrilling. The book is only 230 pages, but it feels packed with action, tension, and character moments that stick with you.

Remington Kane is already one of my favorites, and this first book in the Tanner series shows exactly why he has such a loyal following. Over 2,100 five‑star ratings on Amazon isn’t an accident. This is a tight, gritty, high‑energy thriller that delivers exactly what it promises.

Final Thoughts

If you enjoy crime thrillers, morally complex characters, or fast reads that keep you hooked from start to finish, Inevitable I is absolutely worth your time. I went in thinking it wasn’t “my kind of book,” and came out giving it a full ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐.
